Recently, I was lucky enough to reconnect with an old friend and fellow writer, Haley M. Godwin. We've known one another for over fifteen years, and strangely enough, we've pursued the same writing goals via different journeys.

In 2018, I became a high-school English teacher for the NYC DOE. I also began working on a novel, which became For a Little Patch of Ground. It's a family saga about an interracial couple, set in Georgia from the years 1933-1967. The novel is a confrontation with my history as a Southerner, a vivisection of White-supremacy, and an homage to my family. Still, it's just a love story.
I wrote the book during my summer breaks, on weekends, and at night. The last two-hundred pages were written on a 1938 Royal typewriter and a 1976 Olympia Typewriter.
The novel clocks in at 503 pages. You can read more about the book here.
In February, I met the love of my life. I wrote a story about it.

The Weigh-In has been shortlisted for the 2017 Nick Darke Award presented by Falmouth University in the U.K.
I'll be traveling to London in November to the awards ceremony!
I'll be having a workshop reading of my newest play, Blood of the Lamb on Sunday, March 12th @ 6pm at Balance Arts Center.
Directed by Suzanne Karpinski
In Blood of the Lamb, McKenna, an adopted Korean college student from New Jersey, has been forced to live with her mother and soon to be step-father in Bible Belt America during the Age of Trump. When Ty, her step-brother, returns from a stint as a Youth Minister at an Evangelical Summer camp holding a dark secret that threatens the fabric of his faith, McKenna decides to challenge a system of values worlds away from her own. As the politics of the 2016 Election Season encroach on this slice of Americana, this newly formed family endures a personal culture clash that leaves no one unscathed.
